Last week, we took the boys to the pumpkin patch — what a difference a year makes! They have been enamored with pumpkins lately & love to point them out whenever they see one. When we went to get pumpkins last year, the boys weren't walking yet. This time, it was a completely different experience watching them interact with the animals, climb up hay bails & explore the patch to pick out their very own pumpkins!

I am obsessed with Halloween and obsessed with books…so I went a little crazy buying Halloween books for the boys this year!
Their grandma purchased them two Halloween books last year (There was an Old Lady who Swallowed A Bat and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Haunted Clubhouse) which they love! So I knew they would enjoy getting some new books and that I would enjoy reading them some new ones, too.
I’ve been keeping all of their Halloween books in a basket. This makes it easy for us to pick a story! These kids have books everywheeeeereee.
Here are the eight books we’ve added to our collection this year!
Frankenstein // an adorable parody of Madeline (one of my favorite books as a child!). I’m not really sure if you can put “adorable” and “Frankenstein” in the same sentence…but this is a really fun and entertaining read. If you are familiar with the book Madeline and like spooky Halloween things, I’m sure you will enjoy it, too!
Goodnight Goon // another parody of a classic book, Goodnight Moon. This is also a fun read as you can anticipate what is coming next.
Five Silly Ghosts // this book reminds me of the song “Five Little Pumpkins” sung by Raffi as it is pretty much the same. I love reading this one to the kiddos and they like pointing out all of the different objects.
The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat // did anyone else love the Berenstain Bears growing up? My siblings and I loved reading these books and had quite the collection. I’ve been slowly adding these books to the boys’ library and of course, had to get this one.
Dr. Seuss’s Spooky Things // Halloween + twins…this one was a no brainer! 🤪
Room on the Broom // I love love love this book! It is by the same creators of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child (which are favorites over here). The rhyming and the story are so good and the illustrations are fun.
Little Blue Truck’s Halloween // a cute lift-the-flap book about animals dressing up and going to a party! Little Blue Truck and Little Blue Truck’s Springtime are big hits in our house so I knew this one would be, too.
Shake dem Halloween Bones // different fairytale characters come together at the hip-hop Halloween ball! I enjoy the beat this book is read (or sung!) to.
What are some of your must-have Halloween books?!

Apple Picking: Year Two
Last September, we went apple picking for the first time as a family. I mentioned in this post from last year that I hoped it would become a family tradition for us. I’m so happy that we were able to go for the second time earlier this week!
We visited the same orchard on Mt. Hood & this time, the boys did most of the picking. It was a gorgeous, sunny fall day. Since it is late September & because we were up on the mountain, I was expecting it to be a little chilly but it was perfect! I actually got a little sweaty chasing around two toddlers! 😅
Wyatt & Boden had a great time picking the apples. They were very focused & loved putting them into the bucket. Last year, they ate a good share of the apples. This year, I don’t think either of them took a single bite! They were too busy picking them & it was adorable watching how involved they were.
Now, I just need to figure out what to make with all of the apples we picked! Maybe I will attempt to make my first apple pie?
We can’t wait for year three!
