This week has been crazy! First, at our ultrasound, we learned the babies are 5 lbs 7 ozs & 4 lbs 12 ozs! They are doing so well & everything looked great. The doctor told me that I need to deliver by 38 weeks & that we would not be scheduling anymore ultrasounds through the clinic.
We also had our birthing center tour this week. Sean was already familiar with the facility because he had a rotation there during nursing school, but it was really nice for me to see the rooms & to learn what the hospital provides for us during our stay. The rooms are HUGE!
We were scheduled for our 35 week appointment on Wednesday, but ended up not making it. On Tuesday night, I decided to take my blood pressure while we were at the grocery store to see if it was still high. It was definitely high...higher than it had ever been. We took it a couple more times and it was still high, so we decided to go to L&D at 10pm that night, just to be on the safe side.
The next few hours were extremely stressful for me. I didn’t think anything major was going on because I felt fine & I just wanted to go in to make sure the babies were doing well.
The doctor said I had preeclampsia and started talking to me about how I wanted to deliver: vaginally or c-section. I was freaking out to say the least because I was so not ready to think about that or to deliver babies. She checked my cervix & said I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced & that she could feel baby A’s head. They were telling us that the babies could be here in 1-3 days if the preeclampsia worsened.
i was admitted so they could keep me for monitoring. My blood pressure got better, labs were all good (except for the protein in my urine) & my swelling even seemed to go down a little. I did not need to receive any meds through my IV, but they did give me two rounds of steroid shots to help the babies lungs develop. The babies did amazing the whole time we were there! They kept me from 10pm Tuesday night until 10am Thursday morning, just in time for Thanksgiving! I was so happy to get discharged! Thank goodness for Sean, he is truly a saint.
Because of the preeclampsia, we will not be going past 37 weeks. That means baby boys will be here in two weeks or less! I am placed on modified bedrest & cannot drive. I pray that everything continues to go well & they will stay in there a little longer. I just need to take it easy & listen to my doctors.
How far along: 34 weeks
Genders: BOYS
Total weight gain: 48 lbs
Maternity clothes: Wearing the usual leggings, tank & sweatpants around the house. I only “get dressed” if I know I’m going somewhere 😂
Stretch marks: Still none
Sleep: I’m getting used to running on no sleep!
Best moment this week: Leaving the hospital & getting able to spend Thanksgiving with family.
Worst moment this week: Going to the hospital, not feeling ready to deliver the babes.
Movement: It’s getting a little more difficult to distinguish between which one is moving, it’s getting pretty tight in there! They are most active in the evening. They are definitely active when hooked up to monitors & are always trying to kick them off.
Cravings: None
Queasy or sick: Overall, feeling good. As good as I can be! Just getting really uncomfortable.
Labor signs: Apparently I’ve been having contractions but haven’t been feeling them. I hope labor isn’t too near!
Belly button in or out: Out
Wedding rings on or off: Off. Still wearing my silicone ring in place of my originals.
Happy or moody: Nervous/anxious are better words to describe this week
Looking forward to: Maybe deciding on names? I feel like the pressure is on!! I also feel like they won’t be named until they get here…but having a short list might be good :)
